(born December 13, 1967), professionally known as Jamie Foxx, is an American actor, singer-songwriter, stand-up comedian, and talk . As an actor, his work in the film Ray earned him the and BAFTA Award for as well as the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a musical/comedy.

Born in Terrell, Texas, Jamie Foxx is the son of Louise Annette Talley Dixon and Darrell Bishop. Jamie Foxx was abandoned seven months after birth, and was subsequently adopted and raised in Terrell by his mother’s adoptive parents, Estelle and Mark Talley. Foxx had a strict Baptist upbringing and began piano lessons at the age of five by his grandmother’s orders. As a teenager, he was a part-time pianist and choir leader in Terrell’s New Hope Baptist Church. Jamie Foxx also was a good dancer.

Foxx first rose to fame as a comedian, from which he initiated a potent career trajectory of ambitious projects. After spending time in the comedy circuit, he joined Keenan Ivory Wayans, Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans and Tommy Davidson in the landmark Fox sketch comedy series “In Living Color,” creating some of the show’s funniest and most memorable moments. In 1996, Foxx launched his own series, “The Jamie Foxx Show,” which was one of the top-rated shows on the WB Network during its five-year run.
