(also known as Underworld 4) is an American 3D action-horror film set to be released on January 20, 2012. Underworld: Awakening is the third in the Underworld series (with Rise of the Lycans being the to the first film Underworld and Evolution being the first sequel).

Kate Beckinsale will reprise her role as Selene from Underworld and Underworld: Evolution, while Sandrine Holt, Michael Ealy, and India Eisley have been cast in roles new to the series. Beckinsale is back as the vampire Selene for Awakening, as she escapes from her comatose imprisonment to find that humans have discovered that vampires and werewolves exist and are trying to wipe them out. Selene then teams with a police detective (Michael Ealy) to bring down the evil BioCom corporation.

Underworld: Awakening filming began in March 2011 at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia. Underworld: Awakening is the first movie to be shot using RED EPIC digital cameras in 3D.
